Jamaican Consulate Miami opens Condolence Book for Seymour Mullings

MIAMI – A Book of Condolence for the late former Deputy Prime Minister, Honourable Seymour Mullings, OJ, has been opened at the Consulate General of Jamaica, Miami, at 25 SE Second Avenue, Suite 620, Miami (33131).

Members of the public are invited to sign the Condolence Book which remains open through Tuesday, 22 October, between the hours of 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon.

Ambassador Seymour Mullings died at the Andrews Memorial Hospital on Thursday, 10 October, at age 82, following a distinguished career as one of Jamaica’s most esteemed public servants.

Affectionately known as “Foggy Mullings”, the Ambassador served as a member of the House of Representatives for 26 years. He was also a former Finance Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Health, Local Government and Agriculture, as well as Jamaican Ambassador to the United States of America.

Jamaica’s Consul General Franz Hall described Ambassador Mullings as “a quintessential gentlemen.” During his tenure in the Foreign Ministry, Mr. Hall continued “the Ambassador was an inspiration to me, personally.”

The Government of Jamaica will accord an Official Funeral to the late former Deputy Prime Minister and Cabinet Minister. The funeral service will take place on Thursday, 24th October 2013, commencing at 11:00 a.m, at the St. Matthew’s Anglican Church in Claremont, St. Ann. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.

Ambassador Mullings was born on May 12, 1931 in Cave Hill, St. Ann. He attended the Claremont Elementary School and is a graduate of Jamaica College in Kingston.
