Jamaica wins reader’s choice awards in both M&C and Recommend Magazines
Kingston, Jamaica – Jamaica remains at the top of the list among travel professionals and meeting planners, as both industry sectors ranked Jamaica ahead of other Caribbean destinations in 2005, according to two leading trade publications.
Recommend Magazine recently completed its 9th Annual Reader’s Choice Awards, which ranked Jamaica the top Caribbean destination for the second year in a row. Fifteen hundred travel agents participated in the survey, which asked each agent to rank their top choices in 54 categories, such as Best Destination, Best Tour Operator and Best Resort/Hotel Chain. In celebration of this accomplishment, the magazine will feature Jamaica in the December issue.
Meetings & Conventions (M&C) Magazine’s “Gold Awards,” now in its 22nd year, honors convention & visitors bureaus that have continually provided excellence in service to meeting professionals. The Jamaica Tourist Board will receive their first “Gold Service Award” from the publication in 2005 and will be featured in the Gold Awards issue in November. All winners will be honored and receive their award at a ceremony in New York City on November 11, 2005.
“We are very happy to have been awarded the reader’s choice awards as the number one Caribbean destination in 2005 by two such esteemed publications,” noted Paul Pennicook, Director of Tourism for Jamaica. “These awards recognize the tremendous effort that Jamaica and its partners have put forth to create and promote the best product possible. We greatly appreciate the acknowledgement and support from the travel trade and meetings industries.”
