Jamaica Wins Gold at Adrian Awards Gala in New York
NEW YORK – The Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB) was recognized by the Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International (HSMAI) with a Gold Adrian Award for public relations excellence for its newspaper feature entry from The Wall Street Journal, “Jamaica’s New Tourism Spiel: Beaches and Reggae and Jews.”
The accolade was announced during the annual HSMAI Adrian Awards Gala, held at the New York Marriott Marquis on January 31, 2011. This year marked the 54th annual Adrian Awards Competition, the largest and most prestigious travel marketing competition globally.
The newspaper feature, which was published on March 9, 2010, was secured as part of the JTB’s efforts to draw attention to Jamaica’s rich Jewish history and cultural heritage sites. Jamaica’s Director of Tourism John Lynch noted, “We are very pleased to receive this esteemed award for our work in targeting this niche market. It’s an honor to be recognized by industry colleagues and we are excited at the prospects of continuing to build on this market segment moving forward.”
This year’s Adrian Awards Competition attracted nearly 1,100 entries from around the world, with entries judged by top executives from all sectors of the industry. “The quality of the entries submitted in this year’s HSMAI Adrian Awards competition was truly outstanding,” said Fran Brasseux, HSMAI executive vice president. “This year’s winners represent the most inspiring examples of travel advertising, public relations, and digital marketing.”
