Jamaica Red Cross Gets Tivoli Relief Donation from JNBS Foundation
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Jamaica Red Cross (JRC) drive to provide humanitarian relief to the citizens of Western Kingston was boosted by a contribution from the Jamaica National Building Society (JNBS) Foundation on Thursday, May 27.
President of the JRC, Dr. Jaslin Salmon, said the assistance would be used to provide aid to residents affected by the joint police/military operation in Tivoli Gardens. The donation was made by JNBS Foundation board member Mr. Earl Jarrett at the Jamaica National Chief Office in Half-Way-Tree.
“We appreciate the concern and the effort to meet the immediate needs of the people such as food and medical attention,” Dr. Salmon said of the contribution. “It means a lot to us.”

The funds will be used by the JRC to purchase a variety of basic food items, water and medication, the president of the non-governmental agency stated. Based on a walk through Tivoli on Tuesday, May 25 he said the most pressing need, at present, was the requirement for food.
“We are concerned about the needs of the citizens,” Mr. Jarrett stated. He pointed out that JNBS serves members of surrounding communities through a location on Spanish Town Road, “hence we want to lend our full support to this relief effort.”
