LAUDERHILL – The Jamaica National Building Society (JNBS) Florida Representative Office and its Chief Representative Officer, Janice McIntosh, were recently honored by the Broward County Commissioner’s office.
At a breakfast meeting of the Lauderhill Chamber of Commerce, Mr Dale V. Holness, Broward County Commissioner, made the proclamation which declared–Saturday, February 4, 2012 Janice McIntosh & Jamaica National Building Society Appreciation Day.”
The proclamation, read by Commissioner Holness, sought to “recognize the invaluable service” of the Jamaica National Florida Representative Office, which has been “providing outstanding service to the residents of Florida with information about JNBS products and services, formed a vital link to Jamaica for Jamaicans living in Florida, and keeps them informed about happenings in the island.”

Mrs. McIntosh and JNBS were acknowledged for the support provided to the Lauderhill Regional Chamber of Commerce and the community through investment and participation in, “numerous cultural and civic events benefiting Broward County’s residents, especially in providing Jamaicans living in Florida, mortgage loans and investment opportunities in their homeland through regular meetings.”
In addition, the Broward County Board of Commissioners thanked Mrs. McIntosh and Society for demonstrating outstanding corporate citizenship in the community.
Mrs. McIntosh, in response said, “It was an honor for Jamaica National to be recognised for its role in Florida,” and she also expressed her appreciation for her own recognition.
The JNBS Florida Representative Office was established in Tamarac in 2003; and provides residents of Florida with information about JNBS products and services. This office also facilitates mortgage brokerage and refinancing, in accordance with the regulations governing the Society’s operations in the United States of America.
“JNBS has always kept close to Jamaicans, not only here in the USA; but, also in Canada and the United Kingdom,” Mrs. McIntosh, who joined the Florida Office in 2005, stated, “These Representative Offices provides us with a direct link to Jamaicans in the Diaspora, and we work in the various communities to keep their contact with Jamaica alive.”
