Jamaica High School Alumni Sporting Network Celebrates 10 Years

Lauderhill –  This Labor Day Weekend, the Jamaica High School Alumni Sporting Network (JHSASN) will Celebrate 10 years of High School Alumni Soccer and Netball Tournament in South Florida with entertainment and some of the best Caribbean Cultural Cuisines.

Starting Saturday September 1st, the weekend kicks off with the JHSASN Welcome Reception at Moments Restaurant and Lounge (6455 W Commercial Blvd, Tamarac).

On Sunday and Monday the community can expect two full days of alumni soccer and netball.  Children will enjoy bounce house, potato sac race and much more.

On Monday evening the celebration escalates with an Old School Style Street Party, with DJ Waggy Tee & Mikey ZJ of WZOP Radio.

Over the years, the organizers, headed by visionary Lavern Deer have developed the Tournament to a standard which has uplifted the lives of young people who love and engage in the sports whilst bringing much needed discipline and focus to the teams.

The event is a City of Lauderhill sponsored event and is hosted by the City’s Vice Mayor Howard Berger at the Lauderhill Sports Complex, at 7500 W. Oakland Park Blvd., Lauderhill Florida, 33311.

The two-day event runs Sunday, September 2nd from 10am to 6pm and Monday, September 3rd – Labor Day – matches begin at 10am.

The final entries for the National Weekly cup includes: defending champions Bridgeport, along with former champions Cornwall College, Wolmer’s Boys, St Elizabeth Technical, Excelsior, Tivoli, Ferncourt, Meadowbrook, Glenmuir, Calabar, Herbert Morrison, KC, Clarendon College, JC, Dinthill Technical in addition to newcomers Mushette.

The final entries for the netball sees defending champions Denbigh High facing off with Wolmer’s Girls, Mushette, Ardenne High, Excelsior, the Queen’s school, and Kingsway High.
