IRS to hold workshops for small and mid-sized Tax-Exempt organizations
Miami – The Internal Revenue Service will hold three one-day workshops for small and mid-sized tax-exempt organizations in Miami on May 9, 10 and 11, 2006.
The workshops will cover the procedures tax-exempt organizations must follow to maintain their tax-exempt status and comply with their tax obligations. The workshops are designed for board members, officers and staff of small and mid-sized tax-exempt organizations and the practitioners who work with them.
IRS revenue agents will lead the workshops, which include an overview of tax-exempt status and an in-depth discussion of activities that can jeopardize 501(c)(3) status. The workshops also cover unrelated business income and gaming, employment issues for tax exempt organizations, recordkeeping and required disclosures, and an overview of the Form 990 information return.
The Miami workshops will be held at Florida International University’s Kovens Conference Center at 3000 NE 151st Street. Cost of the workshop is $35 per person and includes a text and other IRS forms and publications. Pre-registration is required.
