While the media has focused on the fundraising of the presidential campaigns, candidates for state and local races are also raising money for their campaigns, ”I am very excited about this show of support for my candidacy” said Commissioner Rogers.

Team Rogers’s campaign report indicated that the funds were raised through several events organized by the campaign and community support to include a fish fry as well as a number of individual donors who mailed contributions to the campaign. Over 200 family, friends and supporters attended a birthday/fundraising party for Commissioner Rogers on September 30. The proceeds from this event helped the campaign to exceed its goals for the quarter.

The campaign reported expenditures of $7,822. The money was spent on literature, materials and other support services that the campaign will need.

The campaign team, led by veteran political operative Hulbert James, expects to work extra hard during the upcoming quarter to meet or exceed its fundraising goals and to execute the next phase of the campaign.

“I will continue to reach out to the community and work hard as I prepare for the 2008 election” said candidate Rogers.
