MIAMI – Jerks & Spice has successfully launched their first product on the market which is a tasty and versatile jerk sausage. Aunt Nanny’s Jerk Sausages can now be found in the meat section of Winn-Dixie Supermarkets in Central and South Florida, quite an accomplishment for this small start-up company.
“We have worked long and hard at perfecting Aunt Nanny’s Jerk Sausage, and I am thrilled that we have been able to meet the high standards of Winn-Dixie which is making it available to the public,” commented Bernet Spence, of Jerk & Spice. Spence, the creator and main force behind Jerks & Spice, has taken his love for cooking and a passion for “jerk foods” to establish the company in order to produce a number of jerk products under the Aunt Nanny’s label.
Aunt Nanny’s Jerk Sausage is made from the highest quality pork and is seasoned with a “winning” blend of spices and herbs which delivers a true jerk taste. The sausage can be prepared in various ways; grilled, stir fried with vegetables or simply eaten on a hot- dog roll. Spence has spent years developing his recipe and working with a local food processor to comply with the stringent requirements of the Food and Drug Administration in bringing Aunt Nanny’s Jerk Sausages to the shelves of stores.
A three-time winner of the Jamaican Jerk Festival Cook-Off, held annually in Markham Park, Sunrise, Florida, Spence has always loved cooking, especially jerk, and constantly received compliments from friends and family whenever they devour his various culinary creations. After winning the Jerk Cook-Off in Florida, he was encouraged to explore the possibility of developing a commercial product. Several different creations were tested and he was most satisfied with the results of the jerk sausage and worked diligently to bring it to market.

“We have plans to introduce a turkey jerk sausage in the near future,” an excited Spence commented, “very soon we will also have a jerk rub, which will definitely be a convenience in the kitchen.” Spence is confident that demand for Aunt Nanny’s Jerk Sausage and other products will be high. “Once they get a taste of the jerk sausage they will want to consume it frequently, it is that good” he said.
