Fort Lauderdale Strikers endorses Jamaica High School Alumni Soccer Tournament

FORT LAUDERDALE – The Fort Lauderdale Strikers, South Florida’s only men’s professional soccer team, has announced its endorsement of the third annual Jamaica High School Alumni Soccer and Netball Tournament, scheduled for Labor Day weekend, Sunday, September 4, and Monday, September 5, 2011.

The Jamaica High School Alumni Sporting Network (JHSASN) feels privileged to have garnered the support from this professional team. The partnership allows both the Fort Lauderdale Strikers and JHSASN to share the mutual goal of community promotion through soccer, and strengthens the bond between the Strikers and Caribbean community in South Florida.

Carl Ricketts, Director of Corporate Sponsorships with the Fort Lauderdale Strikers and a Caribbean native, says that it is a pleasure for the Strikers to host the JHSASN event during the Labor Day Weekend as part of the Strikers’ continued support of the Caribbean community. “We encourage the community to come out and support this worthwhile event and we look forward to a lasting partnership with JHSASN. The Strikers’ goal is to create partnerships like this with all ethnic communities throughout South Florida.”

In addition to sponsorship, the tournament will also enjoy the extensive amenities of the Fort Lauderdale stadium. The stadium offers professional-grade turf for the players to display their talents and a capacity of 8,430 for the tournament’s enthusiastic fans.

The event will include a 5 p.m. pre-launch game on Saturday, September 3, at Lockhart Stadium, prior to the Fort Lauderdale Strikers’ home game match-up against Montreal Impact from Canada.

International Reggae artiste Peter Morgan, from Morgan Heritage, will also perform live during the tournament on Labor Day, Monday, September 5.
