Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport to open new cell phone waiting area

HOLLYWOOD – Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) will open its new Cell Phone Waiting Area on Friday, September 1, at 9:00 a.m.

The Cell Phone Waiting Area is conveniently located on the east side of the airport off Perimeter Road, next to the Rental Car Center.
There are 49 spaces in a well lighted area just seconds from FLL’s four terminals. Flight arrival screens have also been installed to help patrons keep track of inbound passengers.

“Broward County now joins the list of the few quality airports nationwide that provide a safe and convenient location where people can wait to pick up friends and family members,” said Broward County Mayor Ben Graber. “Parking on the side of the road is dangerous and illegal. Cell phones are a part of our culture. Providing people with a place to park for a few moments is another superior service that we provide to those who use our airport.”

“I pushed forward with the idea of creating a cell phone waiting area because we needed to provide a safe and convenient place for people to park while they wait to hear from whomever they were picking up at the airport,” said Broward County Commissioner Ilene Lieberman. “It’s important that we continue to be progressive and forward thinking in the services that we provide for those who use our airport. It’s what sets the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport apart from the rest and one of the many reasons that it’s one of the fastest growing airports in the Country.”

A map of the Cell Phone Waiting Area can be downloaded from FLL’s web site at www.fll.net or travelers can call 954-359-0200 for directions.
