Former St. Lucia Prime Minister to address St. Lucian Community in New York

New York – The St. Lucia Labour Party (SLP) announced today that SLP Leader Dr. Kenny D. Anthony will travel to New York City from July 3-6, where he will participate in a series of events organized by the Labour Party’s New York City Chapter.

A major highlight of Dr. Anthony’s New York City visit will be a keynote address to the St. Lucian community in the Tri-State area about the serious issues that St. Lucians face day in and day out, as well as the role of the Diaspora in improving and enhancing economic and social opportunities in St. Lucia. The SLP leader is also expected to speak on a number of other issues, chief among them is the escalating levels of crime on the island and how this negative trend can be reversed. Dr. Anthony will deliver his speech on Sunday, July 5 at the St. Lucian Paradise at 1272 Broadway in Brooklyn, New York from 4 pm.

“We are absolutely thrilled that our esteemed leader has acceded to our request to join us in New York City at this critical juncture in our nation’s history,” says Jeremiah Hyacinth, Chairman of the SLP of New York. “It is imperative that Dr. Anthony has the opportunity to address the community abroad on how we can effect change back home, and for the community to address Dr. Anthony and the Labour Party about the pertinent issues affecting our beloved St. Lucia.”

The former St. Lucian prime minister will also headline a social event titled “An Evening with Dr. Kenny Anthony.” This event is scheduled for Saturday, July 4 from 7 pm at 719 Remsen Ave, Brooklyn New York, between Avenues A and B. This affair will give Dr. Anthony a unique opportunity to engage and interact with St. Lucians while dining in a relaxed environment.

While the events are set to attract scores of supporters and friends of Labour in the Tri-State region, the organizers continue to reiterate that the events are in intended for all St. Lucians and are built on a platform of unity and progress.

The New York City visit marks Dr. Anthony’s first since demitting the office of Prime Minister in December 2006.
