CAYMAN ISLANDS – Miles McPherson, the former U.S. professional football player turned evangelist, returns to the Caribbean with a large team of volunteers in May to “do something” for the people of the region.
Based in San Diego, California, McPherson, a Caribbean American with Jamaican roots, will invest in the Cayman Islands at the “Do Something World Festival,” presented by Miles Ahead, which wraps up several weeks of volunteerism and service to the island.

McPherson, Senior Pastor of the Rock Church and President of Miles Ahead, has become widely known as the “Do Something Pastor.” His team participated in a similar evangelistic and service outreach in Jamaica in 2008, and will mount what is expected to be one of the largest festivals in the Cayman Islands’ history, in partnership with the Cayman Ministers Association on Friday, May 14 and Saturday, May 15 at Black Pearl Skate Park in Grand Cayman. The festival has also attracted sponsorship and support from nearly 20 local businesses and the Government’s Ministry of Finance, Tourism and Development. All partners are eager to invest in the initiatives aimed at benefiting the community and the nation.
Author of the recently launched book DO Something! Make Your Life Count which was released in November, McPherson and his Miles Ahead team hope to improve the lives of Cayman Islanders by bringing together civic, business and church organizations to love and serve their communities. Over the past several weeks, hundreds of volunteers have been addressing social issues in their communities related to the themes of family, education and the environment.
During the week of the festival, almost 100 San Diego volunteers will descend on the island, investing approximately US $2 million into various Caymanian communities.
Projects include the beautification of the George Town Hospital and the Francis Bodden Home for Girls, which includes planting of trees, creation of a healing garden, painting and general landscaping; expansion and modification of overcrowded school classrooms; a constituency tour to engage the island’s young people in productive dialogue; medical health education seminars; along with prison ministry outreach.
The “Do Something World Festival” on May 14 and May 15 offers attendees the opportunity to enjoy exciting live music, gaming tents, a motorcross stunt show, and children’s areas, along with culinary delights.
“Something supernatural happens when someone invests in another person’s life. There is hope for communities wrestling with crime, murder, poverty, and apathy. If we can strengthen the family structure, and galvanize the community, we can improve the quality of life for generations to come,” said Pastor McPherson.
Miles Ahead hopes to announce additional outreach activities throughout the Caribbean region.
