Film Premiere: What Goes Around makes big Screen Debut in Florida on August 31st
FT. LAUDERDALE – What Goes Around, a brand new take on the age old adage ‘you reap what you sow’ from famed Director Steve ‘Tehut-Nine’ McAlpin, makes it’s long awaited screen debut on Sunday, August 31st at Cinema Paradiso located at 503 S.E. 6th Street in Ft.Lauderdale.
Screenings will be at 6:30 pm and 8:30 pm, the cost is $15 in advance; $20 at the Venue.
The premiere is presented by McAlpin’s Sunrason Films, in collaboration with Johnny Blacks Entertainment, and D-Don.
Starring Nohard “Noah” Grant ,who won acclaim for his portrayal of Son-Son, in Bashment: the Fork in the Road, Dancehall artist Flippa Mafia, Sakina Samuda, and Kim Goss, What Goes Around is a humorously drama-filled trek through the lives of a conniving womanizer, his two unlucky-in-love sons, and a host of colorful characters that get trapped in the often unforgiving cycle of love. Against the backdrop of South Florida’s vibrant Caribbean-American music scene, the film features guest appearances by Dancehall superstar Mavado, accomplished actor and artist KC Jockey, popular sound system selector Super Twitch, famous Jamaican dancer Ding Dong, and late Dancehall artist Rraw Dawg.
McAlpin, who won great acclaim with 2007’s gritty urban tale Bashment: The Fork in the Road, decided to move away from making films targeting primarily Caribbean audiences, and instead opted to make a film that truly shows the depth and of Caribbean culture, and how much it has matriculated into American society.
The focus of this film is not about being Jamaican or Caribbean, or even American,” states McAlpin. “Rather, it is about the lives of several people—Caribbean and American—that have become tangled in the web of passion, pleasure, deception, and pain that we ALL know comes with falling in love.”
