Expedia Group Reports Continued Rise in Travel Demand for Caribbean Destinations
Seattle, Wash. – The Expedia group reported that travel demand to certain Caribbean destinations has continued to increase on Expedia group sites.
During the second quarter of the year (2016), Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic maintained its position as the most in-demand destination throughout the Caribbean followed by San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Package demand, which combine components such as air and hotel accommodations, for the aforementioned destinations have also increased nearly 20 percent year over year growth for Punta Cana, and nearly 30 percent for San Juan.
Other stand-out destinations with noteworthy growth for package demand include:
- Ocho Rios, Jamaica, with nearly 45 percent growth
- Paradise Island, Bahamas with nearly 15 percent growth
- Turks and Caicos, with nearly 30 percent growth
The Expedia group is also reporting new data relating to mobile bookings for the Caribbean region indicating increases in demand for the second quarter of 2016 when compared to the same timeframe of 2015 from destinations such as:
- United States with nearly 60 percent growth
- Brazil with more than 80 percent growth
- Mexico with more than 30 percent growth
