Executive Director of the Jamaica Anti-Doping Commission (JADCO) visits WADA Headquarters In Canada
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Newly appointed Executive Director of the Jamaica Anti-Doping Commission (JADCO) Carey Brown will visit the INRS–Institut Armand-Frappier Research Centre Doping Control laboratory(a WADA accredited laboratory) in Montreal on December 16 as part of a week-long visit to Canada. Mr. Brown departs the island on Sunday.
Mr. Brown’s trip is a result of an invitation from the World Anti-Doping Agency which had visited Jamaica in late October to review the country’s anti-doping programme and will form part of his orientation as the newly appointed Executive Director.
While in Canada, the new Executive Director will also visit the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport with a view to exploring the establishment of a cooperative partnership between JADCO and that national anti-doping organization.
The visit by Mr. Brown is timely and can be viewed as a key to his overall strategy to strengthen the capabilities of JADCO and bolster Jamaica’s anti-doping programme.
Mr. Brown, a trained chemist and business management specialist assumed the leadership reins of JADCO in November, and since his appointment, has sought to fill a number of senior executive positions within the organization.
Efforts are now underway to implement the recommendations that have been made to improve operations at JADCO.
