Couples Resorts welcomes 2007 with Top Awards

MONTEGO BAY, Jamaica – Couples Resorts rang in the New Year with top honors from Condé Nast Traveler and Travel + Leisure.

Condé Nast Traveler’s exclusive Gold List ranked Couples Swept Away, Couples Negril and Couples Ocho Rios in the top five resorts in Jamaica.

Travel + Leisure’s annual World’s Best guide ranked Couples Swept Away as the best resort in Jamaica with Couples San Souci close behind at number three.

“I can’t think of a better way to start 2007 than with the awards and recognition from these two well-known and respected publications,” commented Randy Russell, Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing and the resorts’ Chief Romance Officer.

Condé Nast Traveler’s Gold List ranks the world’s 700 best hotels, resorts and cruise lines. Only 12 Jamaican hotels received this top honor. Of those 12 properties, Couples Swept Away received the second highest ranking overall.

The hotels and resorts on the list are ranked based on rooms, service, food, location, design and activities. Couples Swept Away received an average overall rating of 86.9, and with its ideal location on Negril’s Seven Mile Beach it received a perfect score of 100 in the location category. Couples Negril received the third highest ranking overall with a score of 84.7. Couples Ocho Rios followed closely as the fifth best resort in Jamaica with a score of 84.

Travel + Leisure’s World’s Best is the definitive guide to the greatest hotels worldwide. Rated by Travel + Leisure’s team of editors and reporters from around the globe, the World’s Best includes information on how each hotel rates against other properties on the list, what distinguishes it from the competition and how to make the most of your stay.

With only three Jamaican hotels included in the World’s Best, Couples Swept Away was ranked the best overall with a score of 83.79. An ideal location, extensive fitness facilities and an 82-foot lap pool definitely gives Couples Swept Away the competitive edge.

Couples Sans Souci was ranked the third best hotel in Jamaica, with a score of 81.21. The smallest of the Couples Resorts, Sans Souci offers the benefits of an all-inclusive on a more intimate scale.
