Coral Gables Hospital To Host “Brown Bag Medication” Event

CORAL GABLES – Coral Gables Hospital is inviting the community to attend a free Brown Bag Event, where pharmacists will be on hand to answer questions about drug interactions, expired prescriptions and recalled medications. Attendees will receive literature and a free gift.

The event will be held on Saturday, May 16th (9am to 2pm)at the Coral Gables Hospital located at 3100 Douglas Road in Coral Gables.

The Brown Bag Event is to empower patients to know how to properly take and store over-the-counter medications, like Advil or Maalox, and how to properly take and store prescription medication that a physician prescribes, such as diabetes medication or cholesterol medication, with a pharmacist.

The pharmacist will look at medications to help prevent adverse reactions by taking some over-the-counter medications with prescription medications. Or, to see if any medications being taking have expired.

All attendees that come to the hospital should bring every medicine that is being taken in their original bottles. Even if the medication is taken once in a while for an upset stomach or headache.

All medications that the doctor prescribed should be in the original bottle received from the pharmacy.
