City Of North Miami Councilman Alix Desulme To Receive Education Award

NORTH MIAMI – City of North Miami Councilman Alix Desulme will receive one of the Association of Haitian Educators of Dade most prestigious awards at a reception in his honor on Thursday, October 29, 2015. Councilman Desulme will receive the “Movers and Shakers Award in the Field of Education” for his dedicated service as a teacher and leader in the community.

The reception will take place at Moca Café located at 738 NE 125th Street, North Miami, FL at 6:30 P.M. The event is free and open to the public. 

In addition to receiving the award, Councilman Desulme will address the group on the importance of ‘Volunteerism.’  Councilman Desulme is a certified teacher who taught in the Miami-Dade County Public School system for over a decade.

“I am honored and humbled to be selected amongst my peers. I am grateful for the acknowledgment of my work in the field of education.  I believe as educators we make a difference in the lives of students and our ultimate goal is to make school meaningful and successful for each and every child” said Councilman Desulme.

Councilman Desulme earned a Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Leadership (concentration in Marketing) and a Master of Science in Exceptional Student Education (ESE) from St. Thomas University, in Miami Gardens, Florida. He embraces youth issues and became a school teacher because of his passion for quality education. Equitable education was paramount and Councilman Desulme worked tirelessly in the public school system encouraging youth to be the change needed to represent the future of our nation.

Currently, Councilman Desulme is pursuing a doctoral degree in Educational Leadership focusing on Transformative Leadership at the University of New England.
