City of Lauderhill celebrates the 8th Annual Unite-A-Fest

The Lauderhill Mall will be transformed into a Caribbean Village this weekend, March 11-13, as it celebrates the sights, sounds and tastes of the tropics at the 8th Annual Unite-A-Fest. There will be three days of powerful entertainment from an array of steel pan ensembles, live band performances, rides, and a wide assortment of Caribbean food and drinks.

The event kicks off on Friday night with the sweet sound of steel band music. Saturday’s event includes the Women’s Netball Competition and the grand opening ceremony which is at 4 pm. Each year a new component is added to this evolving celebration. This year’s addition will be the spades and dominoes tournament scheduled for Sunday.

Artists scheduled to perform over the three days include Lovindeer, Ken Boothe, Chris Brown, Millenium Band, Socaman Cliff and Wyle Fyah Band, Speaking Hands, Music Makers and many others.

Festival hours are, Friday, March 11 from 7 – 11 P.M. Saturday, March 12 from 11A.M.- 11P.M. and Sunday, March 13 from 1-9 P.M.

Admission to Unite-A-Fest is free and the proceeds from the dominoes and spades tournament will benefit the “Mayor’s Relief Fund for Teachers,” in conjunction with the Lauderhill Educational Advisory board.
