Citizens for Safe and Modern Schools Applaud the Broward School Board Vote to Establish Independent Oversight Committee

Citizens-logo1-300x300FT. LAUDERDALE – Citizens for Safe and Modern Schools released the following statement from Alan Levy, Chair of Citizens for Safe and Modern Schools, following today’s vote by the Broward School Board passing the independent oversight committee resolution:

“I applaud the Broward School Board’s commitment to transparency and accountability, the approval of this committee further highlights the need for passage of the school bond referendum on this November’s ballot to secure a successful future of our children.

With this bond, Broward County will be able to protect our children with increased security and state-of-the-art equipment, provide new computers, modern day technology and training to ensure our kids have the tools to compete for today’s jobs. This vote further demonstrates the school board’s commitment to ensure that the bond money is spent efficiently and effectively addresses the most urgent needs at our schools. “

Levy, an alumnus of Fort Lauderdale High, is a passionate community leader for quality education. In addition of serving as Chair of Citizens for Safe and Modern Schools, he is President and CEO of Great American Farms. Levy has been a Broward county resident for more than 70 years and has been involved in many community organizations including the Broward Workshop and the Performing Arts Center Authority among others.
