Charities raising funds to cater to needy children in Jamaica

Kingston, Jamaica – “Developing Our Communities Through Patriotic Partnership” is a charity initiative by PCF Company Limited. Through that project PCF Company under the patronage of The Consul General of Jamaica, New York and the Jamaican Diaspora Broad Advisory, NE will be hosting a charity auction and cocktail event on May 7 6pm to be held at the Consul General Office 767 Third Avenue, 2nd Flr. in New York. The event will be held as a means of raising funds for four nationally run charities that cater to needy children.

The four Charities that are to be benefited from the project includes: The Bread Basket Ministries, Guiding Light Charity, Jamcan/SOS Children Village and the Gregory Park Baptist Learning Centre. The project’s founder and managing director of PCF, Kevin Frith said the initiative is a means to an end for children who are not as privileged.

The project is seeking to raise ja$20 million over a four years period for these charities. In a courtesy call on the Governor General, Sir Patrick Allen on Thursday, January 21, at King’s House, Frith said that the effort was seeking to improve Jamaican humanitarian image abroad within the context of Brand Jamaica.

He further stated that the concept came about because of personal experiences. “I was once a not so privileged child but now that I am able to give back I am do so freely because I know what it is like to be without food or shelter. I am also encouraging others as well offer assistance whether monetarily or through resources,” said Frith.

He said the plan for the event is to get Jamaicans both locally and those living abroad (especially those living in the Jamaican Diaspora overseas), as they might be in a more attainable position to assist, not just financially but with resources. He noted that his first target for assistance was local corporate companies then he moved on to organizations in the Diasporas. The first stop was the Consul General of Jamaica, Florida then Washington as a courtesy call and to gain the support of both consulates. Next was the Consul General of Jamaica, New York in which the first event will be in collaboration with on May 7th.
