Caribbean Regional Sustainable Energy Conference to be held in Nassau
NASSAU, The Bahamas – The U.S. Department of State, U.S Embassy Nassau, and the Organization of American States are pleased to announce a two-day regional conference on alternative and renewable energy, to be held at the Sheraton Cable Beach Hotel, Nassau, The Bahamas, July 23-24.
United States Ambassador Ned L. Sigel, and the Honorable Earl Deveaux, Minister of Environment will give remarks at the opening of the conference on Wednesday, July 23.
On July 23, the Organization of American States (OAS), the Inter American Development Bank (IADB), and the Inter American Institute on Cooperation in Agriculture (IICA) will host a meeting of Caribbean energy officials, energy producers, and major donors to discuss strengthening regional mechanisms for the promotion and implementation of renewable energy projects.
On July 24, the U.S. Embassy Nassau will sponsor a business roundtable bringing together participants from the OAS-IADB-IICA event, officials from the U.S. Departments of State, Energy, and Commerce, and private sector representatives to discuss public-private partnerships for energy development, financing, and technology.
In addition, the July 24 workshop will include a signing ceremony for the International Partnership for Energy Development in Island Nations (EDIN) and an announcement concerning technical assistance for new regional partners in the U.S.-Brazil Biofuels Initiative.
Additional speakers include high-level officials from the U.S. government, the State of Hawaii, the OAS, the Overseas Private Investment Corporation, CARICOM, IADB, and IICA.
