Business: Legally Speaking – Top Five Workplace Laws Every Business Should Know

SOUTH FLORIDA – Every State has their laws that governs and monitor companies conducting business within their borders. In addition to State laws, the federal government has laws that must be adhered to by all jurisdictions.
The Human Resources Department should receive continuous compliance training in order to avoid or at the very least reduce the financial and legal risks associated with these laws.
Each industry has its specific set of laws; the following are five laws that may apply to your business when certain thresholds are met.
Check with your attorney to ensure you are in compliance in the following areas:
i. Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964
ii. (Title VII) Title II and III of the American with Disabilities Act (ADA)
iii. Fair Labor Standards Act
iv. Family Medical Leave Act
v. Workers’ Compensation Law
