“His Excellency Nelson Mandela’s emergence as a world leader, has exemplified tolerance, endurance, peace and justice as the legacy of the African National Congress. Since 1912, your organization’s struggle to unite the African people and spearhead fundamental political, social and economic change has been remarkable,” outlined PM Spencer.

The country’s leader also noted that the ANC has led the struggle against racism and oppression and has become an institution that is well respected. He added that for South Africans, it should be a day of jubilation and profound reflection as the Government and people unite and exude patriotic fervour and immense love of South Africa.

“As a people of African descent in the Caribbean, my country has played its part in helping to support the work of the ANC during the height of the apartheid struggles. We recognize the need for deeper cooperation between the African Diaspora and the African continent and therefore pledge Antigua and Barbuda’s support for the 2012 African Diaspora Summit,” pointed out PM Spencer.
