Antigua And Barbuda’s Tizzy To Bounce Into Madison Square Gardens

ST. JOHN`S, Antigua – Antigua and Barbuda’s Tanzania “Tizzy” Sebastian is all set to energetically “Bounce” her way into the Madison Square Gardens this Friday (March 28) when Caribbean Fever.Com presents “Machel Montano and Friends.”

The soca artiste’s presence at the event is due in part to a conversation between Minister of Tourism Harold Lovell, US Director of Tourism Derede Samuel- Whitlock and Montano, during a recent appearance on New York radio station WBLS’s Caribbean Fever show with Dahved Levy.

The Tourism Minister stated that, “we are extremely pleased with this sudden development and we expect to see all the Antigua and Barbuda supporters out with their flags at the event.”

He continued, “This is an ideal opportunity for Antigua and Barbuda to promote our international music festival – “Romantic Rhythms” scheduled to take place from June 12 – 15 – featuring performers such as Kenny Rogers, Lionel Richie, Keyshia Cole, Brian McKnight, Shaggy and Destra Garcia to name a few.”

According to Wanda Fisher of Sky Cue Marketing and Productions Inc, “Machel was so happy about being in Antigua for Carnival. Antigua treated him so well that both he and the Minister had been talking about more things to do, and this was the perfect time to make it happen.” Montano, the soca superstar from Trinidad, has been quoted as saying of Tizzy, “We have to have her there!”

This is the first time that Tizzy will be representing Antigua and Barbuda at Madison Square Gardens.
Tizzy who is the lead vocalist of the band “El A Kru” is popularly known for her song “Expose”. The song has won her Best New Female Soca Artist of the year, Favourite Up-tempo and Female Soca Performer of the Year during the 2007 Soca Awards held in New York, last September.

She will be the lone soca female artiste joining the cast of Machel Montano, The Mighty Sparrow, Problem Child, Peter Ram, Ricky T, Maca Diamond, and King David Rudder, who will perform to a sold-out crowd of 12,000 – 15, 0000.

Montano has said that he is extremely excited about the opportunity to bring Caribbean music to the United States in a way that Bob Marley has done with reggae. This is a way to bring the Caribbean together, to showcase Caribbean artistes on the big stage.
