NEW YORK – Antigua and Barbuda dubbed the “Love Islands” of the Caribbean will be teaming up with the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) to tip off ‘Romance Month’ in grand style at New York’s famed Madison Square Garden.
The award-winning, Caribbean destination will host a unique lineup of events under its “Kiss and Make Up” Promotion celebrating the launch of the destination’s first ever Romantic Rhythms Music Festival taking place June 12 -15.
This celebration takes place Sunday, June 8, 2008, as the New York Liberty take on the Sacramento Monarchs.

As the official exhibition game sponsor, the destination’s advertisement and digital messages will be featured on the 7th & 8th Avenue Marquees in Mid Manhattan atop Penn Station. This is one of the most highly trafficked train stations in the US reaching over 8 million pedestrians and drivers daily. Antigua and Barbuda’s messages will run for 10 days before and after the game.
This history making event will feature a Renewal of Vows one of the main symbols of the “Kiss and Make Up” Promotion. A lucky couple will renew their vows under the Caribbean terrace of love. There will also be an exclusive meet-and-greet reception at the Madison Square Garden Terrace, as well as exciting halftime giveaways and more. Antigua and Barbuda will bring the romance of the islands to center court for basketball fans and travelers alike.
At the reception, one of the main highlights will be local artist Shermain Jeremy, who is scheduled to perform at the Music Festival in Antigua she will serenade during the game’s halftime program. Portions of the reception will be displayed on the GardenVision digital screen, along with an announcement inviting fans to experience their own romantic getaway in the top destination.
The Sandals Resort, whose luxury hotels epitomizes love and romance in the Caribbean will co-sponsor the event with Antigua and Barbuda, kicking off the afternoon’s festivities with a pre-game Foreplay reception with New York Liberty alumni on the Garden’s spacious club terrace level.
