And the Winners Are… Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) honours leading travel media

NEW YORK – The Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) recognized travel journalists covering the region at the Caribbean Week New York Media Awards at the Marriott Marquis Ballroom on Thursday, June 7, 2012.  The awards luncheon was sponsored by The Islands of The Bahamas.

After brief remarks from Bahamas Minister of Tourism, Hon. Obie Wilchcombe, CTO’s secretary general Hugh Riley presented the following awards to well deserving travel journalists in front of a packed audience of Tourism Ministers and other dignitaries from the Caribbean, industry executives and other well regarded journalists:
 
Been There, Wrote That – Best Feature Article In A Consumer Magazine presented to Ted Alan Stedman for “Breathtaking Belize” in Alaska Airlines Magazine
 
Inner Circle King – Best Feature Article In A Trade Publication
presented to Joe Pike for “The Uncharted Caribbean” in Travel Agent Magazine
 
Oh Snap! – Best Photography presented to Jessica Sample for “10 Caribbean Hideaways” in Travel + Leisure
 
Virtual Visitor Award – Best Online Feature presented to Libby Zay for “Seven Ways To Experience Bahamas Culture” on Gadling.com
 
No Anansi Story! – Best Caribbean-based Feature presented to Sanny Ensing for “The Flavours of Grenada” in the St. Maarten Daily Herald
 
Golden Mic – Best Feature Broadcast presented to Shayna Seymour & Kathy Bickimer at Chronicle – WCBV-TV Boston for their feature on St. John, U.S.V.I.
 
Not Lost In Translation – Best U.S.-based Feature In An International Medium presented to Bret Love for “Sweet Escape to St. Kitts” in Latitudes

The Caribbean Week New York Media Awards were judged by a team of public relations and journalism experts, including Head Judge Ellen Tashie Frisin, an Associate Professor at Hofstra University.
