FIFA Development Officer To Visit Turks and Caicos Islands

PROVIDENCIALES, Turks and Caicos Islands – Mr. Daryll Warner, FIFA Development Officer out of Port of Spain will be visiting the Turks & Caicos Islands from May 10 – 13.

On Tuesday, May 11th, Warner will meet with the executive body and stakeholders, inclusive of clubs and local leagues representatives of the Turks and Caicos Islands Football Association (TCIFA) to discuss various ongoing projects in the development of football in the TCI.

In a separate meeting on that day, at the TCIFA National Academy, located on Venetian Road, Providenciales – Warner intends to meet with representatives of the Ministry of Education & Sports and Sports Commission principals to discuss grassroots projects (for children ages 6-12) for the TCIFA.

On Wednesday, May 12th, the Development Officer proposes to meet with several hotels to carry out site inspections for possible venues for future FIFA courses and workshops.

TCIFA’s Secretary General Mrs. Bien-Aime said: “It is indeed a privilege to have Mr. Warner take time out of his busy schedule to meet with education and sports officials while in the TCI. During his visit he will be discussing initiatives that have a proven track record of having the most important elements of sports; this, of course being beneficial to the Association.”

Bien-Amie went on to add that she is confident that on site inspections, the FIFA Development Officer will find TCI’s hotels more than suitable to host FIFA courses and workshops. This will be an added bonus, not only for the TCIFA, but also for the Turks & Caicos Islands in general.

TCIFA President Chris Bryan added , “ Mr Warner’s visit coincides with the announcement by FIFA that the Turks and Caicos Islands Association will benefit, by additional special funding through a GOAL 3 project, to construct an additional full size artificial pitch at our National Football Academy. This will be a terrific boost to help expand our youth development programmes and is an indication of FIFA’s faith in the way our Association is administered and run. Thanks are due to all our employees, football volunteers, players, coaches , referees and sponsors in helping us to continue growing in such a positive way.”
