Formal Dresses to be given to High School graduates in Jamaica by South Florida based organization
FT. LAUDERDALE – A South Florid based community organization, Transforming America Through Interaction (“TATI”)Inc. will be giving away over 60 dresses to high school students who will be graduating this year in Jamaica.
The dresses being donated are formal gowns and cocktail-length dresses, donated by Tatiana’s Bridal in Coconut Creek.
“Angela Baker-Brown (owner of Tatiana’s Bridal) is a special lady, and this gesture is such a
spectacular show of kindness,” says Tanya Ragbeer, president of TATI, Inc. “We will be awarding the dresses through the Consul General’s office to academically deserving, disadvantaged young ladies in Jamaican high schools graduating in the class of 2008.”
Tanya Ragbeer and Angela Baker-Brown have known each other for a few years, and had built a
kinship on the fact that they both had daughters with the name Tatiana. After learning of
Tanya’s daughter’s passing and the organization TATI Inc. that was born out of her loss, Angela
felt this was a fitting tribute to Tanya’s Tatiana. “
In light of this wonderful act of spontaneity, C. P. Ricardo Allicock, Jamaica’s Consul General in
Miami, is calling on the Jamaican Alumni associations located in the tri-county area to make contact with their alma maters so they may identify recipients of these dresses in Jamaica.
A meeting will be held at 6:00pm on Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at Ragbeer’s office: BankUnited, 3660
W. Oakland Park Boulevard in Lauderdale Lakes.
