Kiwanis Club to host seventh annual community fair

The Kiwanis Club of Lauderdale Lakes/West Sunrise will host its seventh annual free Community Fair at the Lauderhill Mall on Saturday, April 23, 2005.

“The Community Fair will address various needs of the community and will provide free services to residents of Lauderhill, Lauderdale Lakes, and surrounding areas,” states Judi Pinto, club chairperson.

People attending the fair will have access to services such as job and career opportunities; legal advice and legal services; academic scholarships and financial aid; processing of citizenship application; financial planning; money management; health insurance; and heath services such as immunization, blood pressure screening, glucose screening, CPR, dental education, chiropractic, and wellness information. The fair is planned by the Community Services Committee.

Consuls General of several Caribbean countries will be on site and representatives from their offices will provide passport services.

The Kiwanis Club of Lauderdale Lakes/West Sunrise, founded in 1998, was the brainchild of Anthony D’Oyley, 2001-2002 Distinguished President, and Leroy Gordon, Distinguished President of the Kiwanis Club of Eastern Kingston & Port Royal, Jamaica. The current president is Michelle Cyrus-Brown and the club now has 120 members.
