ICABA’s Business at Breakfast Caribbean-American Heritage Month Edition Seeks To Create Partnerships

SOUTH FLORIDA – Miguel Southwell is coming back to South Florida as the featured Speaker for ICABA (International Career and Business Alliance) Business at Breakfast & Forum on June 12th 2015.   Miguel left the Miami International Airport almost 2 years ago to lead the Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson Airport, the world’s busiest airport.

According to ICABA’s Founder & CEO, Jerome Hutchinson, “Our loss was Atlanta’s gain”!  “Nevertheless, we are excited to have the opportunity see and hear from Miguel at ICABA Business at Breakfast June 12th”.  “The theme is “Building African  and Caribbean American  Partnerships to Grow Our Businesses” which coincides with Caribbean-American Heritage Month.  Miguel who is of Caribbean-American descent hails from the Island of Antigua and has been instrumental in African-American and Caribbean business growth and economic development.

In addition to the featured speaker, there will be a Speaker Panel with Marie Gill, President of the Jamaica USA Chamber of Commerce, Beatrice Louissaint, President/CEO Southern Florida Minority Supplier Development Council and Sandy Michael McDonald, Director Broward County Office of Economic and Small Business Development who will share their knowledge and information on how to capitalize on partnerships in the South Florida community in an effort to grow your business.

Aviation General Manager

Miguel Southwell was named aviation general manager of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport in May 2014. He has more than two decades of aviation management experience.

At Hartsfield-Jackson, Mr. Southwell managed the conclusion of the Airport’s food and beverage concessions expansion, one of the largest expansion projects in the global airport industry. He also is leading the ATL team in executing a forward-thinking Master Plan that will chart the course of Airport development for the next 20 years.

Further, Mr. Southwell has set a list of priorities that include enhancing the guest experience at Hartsfield-Jackson, expanding air cargo capacity, building a robust, job-creating international air service development program and several other initiatives – all aimed at strengthening the Airport’s impact on the economy and making Hartsfield-Jackson an even larger force in the global aviation market.

Mr. Southwell is the former deputy director of business for Miami International Airport and four Miami-Dade County general aviation airports. During his 12-year tenure in Miami, he was responsible for generating more than $700 million in annual revenue from a wide variety of airport businesses.

Prior to his service in Miami, Mr. Southwell spent 11 years at Hartsfield-Jackson in numerous leadership positions, including as interim assistant general manager for Business and Finance.

Mr. Southwell chairs the Airports Council International (ACI) Fund Council that provides training to airport professionals in developing countries. He served six years on the ACI World Governing Board and is a Past President of its Latin America and Caribbean Region. Mr. Southwell is a member of the 100 Black Men of Atlanta. He serves on the Metro Atlanta Chamber Board of Advisors, and he is a board member of the Atlanta Convention and Visitors Bureau.
