WTPS 1080 AM Caribbean Saturdays heats up

Miami – On Saturday, April 15, 2006, News/Talk WTPS 1080AM The People’s Station will debut a brand new brokered talk program, Caribbean Crossroads, with local Miami attorney, Marlon Hill.

Caribbean Crossroads, a one hour program broadcasting every Saturday, 6-7pm, as part of Caribbean Saturdays on WTPS 1080 AM and will feature an eclectic mix of news, politics, cultural and community affairs, and a dash of music entertainment.

Hill will debut the new program after a two year stint as a guest political commentator on Caribbean Riddims with Eddy Edwards, 3-6pm on Saturdays at the new WTPS, formerly WVCG 1080AM.

“Caribbean Crossroads” will extend and broaden the information, discussion, and features from Election Watch and the D’ People’s Politics on Caribbean Riddims. People want and need more information on their civic responsibilities and political engagement. This is a great opportunity for Marlon to bolster and spin-off what we started on my program,” stated Eddy Edwards, host of Caribbean Riddims.

Along with an occasional mix of musical entertainment, Caribbean Crossroads will address critical civic and political issues in local South Florida communities, monitor upcoming elections, and welcome special guests to discuss these issues and other important cultural and community trends.

Guests will provide a host of information geared towards awareness and guidance on some of the engaging topics and features. Listeners will also have an opportunity to call in and share thoughts and opinions on the topics and features of the day.

News Talk WTPS 1080AM

WTPS 1080AM, formerly WVCG 1080AM, is owned by Radio-One, an urban radio network (www.radio-one.com) and has been broadcasting in South Florida for over 22 years. WTPS recently changed its format to news/talk targeting the African Diaspora. WTPS has one of the strongest signals on AM, with 50,000 watts reaching from Palm Beach to the Keys during the day and 25,000 watts at night.

The Monday through Friday format includes James T. and Tamara G. in the morning from 6am to 10am, Michael Eric Dyson airs from 10am to 1pm, Al Sharpton’s show airs 1-4 pm and the 2 Live Stews hip hop style sports talk from 4-7 p.m. Monday through Friday from 7pm to 6am, inspirational music is aired as well as on Saturdays and Sunday morning until 2pm.

Caribbean programming with Don Daly, Mike Andrews, Eddy Edwards, and the Caribbean Sportsline airs on Saturdays from 8am until 9pm.
