World Dignitaries To Gather In Ft. Lauderdale For Democracy in the Americas Symposium 2015

Democracy in the Americas Symposium 2015FT. LAUDERDALE – The Democracy in the Americas Symposium 2015 (DITAS15), presented by the Zambrano Foundation, will take place on October 15, 2015 at the Greater Fort Lauderdale Broward County Convention Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida,  and will feature prominent foreign, national and local leaders as panelists.

DITAS is an annual gathering of world dignitaries, multi-national corporate leaders, prominent scholars, students and social innovators who discuss the latest trends in policy, trade, technology, social innovation and economic development to improve democracy in the hemisphere. The conference is sponsored and organized by the Zambrano Foundation, whose vision affirms that democracy is more than a political system; it is a way of life.

The symposium will consist of four interactive panels that will allow speakers to discuss democracy in terms of education, media and economy, while also debating the future of democracy in the Americas.

The Democracy in the Americas Symposium 2015 will feature influential panelists and speakers, including Former President of Haiti Gerard R. Latortue, Director of Conatel Honduras Marco Midence; Florida House Representatives José Félix Díaz and David Richardson; Dr. Bruce M. Bagley of the University of Miami Department of International Studies; Venezuelan journalist Rafael Poleo, Cuban activist Rosa María Payá; SAVE Executive Director Tony Lima; Director of Tecnológico de Misantla Dr. Jose Alberto Gaytán García; Dr. Juan A. Blanco of the Miami Dade College Center for Latin American and Caribbean Initiatives; NTN24 Director of Content and journalist Idania Chirinos; U.S. Presidential Candidate Souraya Faas, and New Leaders Council’s Ron Bilbao.

This year’s event will be held within the umbrella of the Florida International Trade and Culture Expo (FITCE), organized by Broward County and under the leadership of Commissioner Dale V.C. Holness.

This exhibition attracts hundreds of international and US companies looking to expand their businesses in South Florida, providing tools and resources for those who want to live and work in South Florida.

On Monday, October 12, DITAS15 will host its annual Presidential Dinner at 8:00 pm at the Broward County Convention Center, honoring Former President of the Dominican Republic Leonel Fernandez, for his contribution and continuous support for democracy.

In previous years, DITAS has presented leaders such as President Luis Alberto Lacalle of Uruguay, President Vinicio Cerezo of Guatemala, Former President of the Inter-American Development Bank Enrique V. Iglesias, Cuban journalist Yoani Sanchez, among others.
