Workgroup Aims To Make Miami-Dade County Tobacco-Free

MIAMI – The Florida Department of Health in Miami-Dade County and the Consortium for a Healthier Miami-Dade’s Tobacco-Free Workgroup is hosting a partnership meeting on Monday, September 28, 2015 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Beacon Center located at 8323 NW 12th Street, Suite 212, Miami FL 33126.

The Tobacco-Free Workgroup (TFW) is committed to working towards creating a tobacco-free Miami-Dade. This county tobacco-free partnership is open to all organizations and community members in Miami-Dade County.  We invite and encourage all to take a stand and be a part of this positive change of healthier and safer communities.

Tobacco-Free Miami DadeThe mission of the TFW is to collaborate with community stakeholders to decrease smoking, tobacco use, and exposure to secondhand smoke in Miami-Dade County. The TFW was established in 2008 and has been working diligently to mobilize community partners and coordinate initiatives and activities to prevent and decrease tobacco use in the county, especially amongst our youth. The Tobacco-Free Workgroup is committed to creating policy and system changes to minimize tobacco use and promote healthier learning, working and living environments.

The Workgroup is currently engaged in several efforts to create a significant impact on the health of the Miami-Dade community, and welcomes the involvement of community members and organizations.
