Women of Excellence to be honored on Mother’s Day

SUNRISE – Nostalgia in Gold Inc, will host their 20th annual Mother’s Day Event on May 8,2011at 3:00 p.m. In The Grand Ballroom of the elegant Renaissance Hotel 1230 South Pine Island Road in Plantation.

This special celebration will commemorate and pay tribute to Women of Excellence, women who have given timeless contributions to our society, as well as their various fields of endeavor. This year our points of focus are the extraordinary ladies and unsung heroines who are advocates both in their homeland and abroad, supporting the causes of children and women, their economic needs, education, health and welfare.

Among our Distinguished Honorees, will be the Former Ambassador of the United States to Jamaica Ambassador Sue Cobb OJ, (Hon), Pastor Pearlena Henry of Ft Lauderdale, for her services to the Danny Williams School for the Deaf and Jamaica National Children’s home, the Honorable Olivia “Babsy” Grange, Jamaica’s Minister of Youth Culture and Sports, Ms. Lorna Stanley- of the Collie Smith Drive, Trench Town, Operation Restoration , Dr. Tamara Moodie, founder of the South Florida Charter school for Autism, Mrs. Kay Chong, initiator of the Air Jamaica Kids Club, Mrs. Yvonne Keene of Caribbean American Medical Educational Organization (CAMEO) for her worldwide medical missions, and Ms. Pamela Watson, benefactor of various athletic and youth programs of the USA and Internationally.

“We look forward to positively showcasing our diverse communities and its life-blood: our outstanding Honorees- past and present, as well as our distinguished guests” says Vonnie McGowan-Arscott, President of Nostalgia of Gold Inc.

This event has enjoyed overwhelming support in previous years and has been known to present an exciting culturally-enlightening program. This year’s program will include both International and Local Entertainers, The performers for this year’s presentation will include: The Legendary Studio One Artiste Dawn Penn from London, Gospel Sensation Candy Isaacs, and Groups: Khalil the Stars and Ebony Revue of Jamaica, plus special guest artiste, the annual Mother and child Fashion Extravaganza.

Our Marketplace opens at 3:00 pm proceeds to benefit the JAAA, 2012 Olympic Games fund.

Against that background, we will not only honor and pay tribute to our Women of Excellence, but will be providing much needed assistance to various charities including Women’s crisis centers and needy youth programs of Jamaica.

The International Buffet begins at 3:00pm the awards ceremony and show begins at 4:30pm. Tickets are $45 in advance until April 15th.
