MIAMI – Successive hurricanes have deeply impacted Haiti, destroying its agricultural sector and infrastructure and thwarting the inhabitants’ efforts to achieve self-sufficiency.
To assist with the daunting task of rebuilding the country, and after delighting audiences in 2007, the Dem 3 Jamaican Tenors brings the island state of mind back to the Broward Center for the Performing Arts with a benefit concert scheduled for Saturday December 13th at the Wertheim Center, Florida International University, Miami, and Sunday, December 14 at 6 p.m. in the Amaturo Theater in Fort Lauderdale to help the rebuilding efforts in Haiti.
This musical celebration stars three generations of smooth Jamaican tenors: David Reid, Cecil Cooper and Steve Higgins. The singers demonstrate the romantic side of Jamaican culture and tell stories through passionate love songs, Jamaican folk songs, Italian love ballads, jazz numbers and Broadway standards. One song in particular will be performed in Jamaican dialect – patois will be explained for everyone’s enjoyment. From Jamaica with love, there will be something for everyone as the Broward Center welcomes back this talented trio.
Funny, classy and romantic, the concert is presented by Stoosh Productions in association with Steve Higgins & Friends under the distinguished patronage of the Jamaica Consul General in Miami, Mrs. Sandra Grant-Griffiths.
This benefit concert is presented as part of the Broward Center’s Arts Access Program which helps local community groups showcase their culture through varied performance and provides technical and marketing support to help them develop and build their audiences.

The REBUILD HAITI: MISSION POSSIBLE is a collaborative effort between three international organizations from South Florida that have worked for years in Haiti: the Lambi Fund of Haiti, Project Medishare, and FAVACA (the Florida Association for Volunteer Action in the Caribbean and the Americas).
Project Medishare, FAVACA and the Lambi Fund of Haiti are active in assisting Haiti build a more sustainable future. The Lambi Fund of Haiti supports its rural partners by providing seeds, tools, animals and credit funds to place them on the path of financial sustainability; Project Medishare offers much needed assistance in the areas of community health care, agricultural support and nutrition; while FAVACA, with its corps of volunteer expertise, responds to requests from Haitian institutions to Rebuild Haiti, strengthening their hand at managing emergency assistance, repairing their economy and caring for those traumatized by so much tragedy.
Proceeds from the 3 Dem 3 Jamaican Tenors benefit concert will go to further such initiatives.
