TV Network Veteran Paula Madison, Actor Reno Wilson and Actress Rhona Fox were honored at the 2013 Caribbean Heritage Salute to Hollywood and the Arts Gala

Los Angeles – On Friday, June 13 the Caribbean Heritage Organization of Los Angeles celebrated their 2013 Salute to Hollywood and the Arts gala. This year the organization celebrated the accomplishments of actor and producer, Reno Wilson, television executive Paula Madison and emerging actress Rhona Fox.

Fox, who was born in Guyana, was surprised by a video tribute by her mom Bibi Fox, reggae and dancehall superstar Shaggy and soca artist Farmer Nappy was bestowed with the Rising Sun Award.

With roots in the twin islands of Antigua and Barbuda, Mark & Molly and the Cosby’s Reno Wilson amused the audience with his stories of growing up in Flatbush, New York otherwise known as “Little West Indies.” Wilson received video congratulatory messages from his Mark & Molly co-star Billy Gardell and the Cosby’s Malcolm-Jamal Warner.

Owner of the Africa Channel and former NBC executive, Paula Madison had the audience spellbound as she recounts her journey to find her Jamaican-Chinese roots.

Notables in attendance included actresses Holly Robinson Pete and Lorraine Toussaint. Producers and writers from Mark & Molly, CBS executives and representatives from the Antigua & Barbuda government were among the evening’s guests.

The program included an art display by Belizean Garifuna artist Glenda Card, entertainment by reggae artist Errol Bonnick; calypso jazz singer Bretinna and the folkloric Lidereibugu Garifuna Essemble and Flavio Alvarez and the Junkanoos. The evening was hosted by Los Angeles CBS2/KCAL9 weatherman Kaj Goldberg.
