Turks and Caicos Islands Top Models To Take A Bite Out Of The Big Apple

PROVIDENCIALES, Turks and Caicos Islands – The 2010/11 TCI Top Model Contest winner and a TCI Top Model contestant are to travel to New York City next week. After winning the coveted title on Saturday, May 1st at the Williams Auditorium in Providenciales, 18 year-old Ashley Smith has been honing her craft for what is to be the start of an illustrious career in the “Big Apple”.

While there, the Times of the Islands cover model has scheduled appointments with the City’s most prestigious modeling agencies, three of which having travelled to the Turks and Caicos for the 2nd Annual TCI Top Model Contest – already expressing a great interest in representing the Grand Turk native. What is more, Ashley will also do a fashion shoot with Wilfredo Alexander – a noted NYC fashion photographer that will give her an added edge.

“Having an opportunity to travel to New York to begin a modeling career is huge for a new model anywhere. To have that many agencies in one city looking not only to meet with you, but also the potential that you may be signed and represented by one of the World’s leading modeling agencies is enormous,” said Mr. Courtney Robinson, Executive Producer of the TCI Top Model Contest & Fashion Extravaganza, who is taking the winner to New York to ensure that she has the best of starts.

With her Amazonian look, lithe physique and fabulous personality, the shy 5’8” local beauty not only won the contest, captured Best Body and strutted off with Best Runway Walk, should not have a problem securing a modeling contract.

Also travelling to New York is Paula Harvey, an elegant Grand Turk beauty that took part in the recently held TCI Top Model Contest. Standing at 5’8, the size “0” beauty is fresh and exotic. A breathtaking young lady with amazingly high cheekbones, Paula has a charming Caribbean smile, almond eyes set sitting in a full forehead, balanced on a petite and toned graceful body. Her presence in New York will definitely be a welcome to treat to the fashion industry, letting them take note that TCI models are here to stay.

“With a striking presence, Paula is also professional, personable, level headed and ready for this business. Without a doubt, she will make an impact and succeed in this business. I am truly honoured to know her, and humbled that I able to play a role in her development.”

New York is the epicenter of high fashion, editorial and commercial modeling; and any model starting their career there has many doors open to Fashion Avenue. To this effect, Ashley and Paula are going to be exposed to the best in the business and a chance to spring board their modeling career to markets such as London, Paris and Milan – and as far away as South Africa and Japan.

To this end, The TCI Top Model Contest & Fashion Extravaganza Committee, its sponsors and supporters, wish Ashley Smith and Paula Harvey continued success on her path to becoming an international Top Model in the world of beauty and fashion. And hopefully, they become one of those positive role models to young girls in the Turks and Caicos looking to get in the industry, and by in large, help put the TCI on the fashion map.
