Trinidadian’s Bestselling Book, Guides Entrepreneurs To Success

TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO – A Trinidad and Tobago-based entrepreneur has achieved the distinction of having her first publication become a No. 1 Bestseller on two leading internet websites.

Georgina Terry, FCCA, author of The Amazing Race to Entrepreneurial Freedom, reports that the new business book became a No. 1 best seller on October 28, 2010 on top shopping websites amazon.co.uk and amazon.com in the Business Plans and Entrepreneurship categories.

Pointing out that approximately 40 to 50% of new businesses fail within the first four years of operation, Terry says her mission is to dramatically reduce this ‘scary’ statistic.

Terry, the Chief Executive Officer of Business and People Development Associates Limited, is originally from England and before arriving in Trinidad in 2001, worked for The Economist and PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Terry says “most books and discussions about starting a business focus on getting the business ready for success, such as in the preparation of business plans, and financial projections,” however she suggests that whilst this is extremely important and necessary, the major component – that the entrepreneur must be ready before they start their business – is often overlooked.

“Entrepreneurship is a new career and many people are entering this new world unprepared,” she noted.

The business and people development coach with 20 years of professional experience and who specializes in turning passions into profits, enjoys helping people live their lives and grow their business by desire and design, rather than by default. “I believe, to the core of my being, that when you tap into your passion you will never work again, because work will become play.”

A qualified accountant, mentor, consultant, coach, International Labour Organisation (ILO) certified trainer and a local and international inspirational speaker, Terry’s publication has received positive reviews.

Dr. Robert E. Nelson, Professor Emeritus and Senior Scholar in Residence at the Illinois-based Academy for Entrepreneurial Leadership, said: “The book provides readers with motivation to consider changing their lives in a positive way and to look for challenges which will make them more entrepreneurial not only in terms of business, but also in other aspects of their life.”

Steve Metcalfe, Communications Director of The Prince’s Youth Business International, in the United Kingdom commented that “any aspiring entrepreneur who has had a great business idea, but doesn’t know what to do next, would do well to start by reading this book.”
