Trinidad & Tobago Welcomes New Minister of Tourism

Port of Spain, Trinidad – Trinidad and Tobago’s Prime Minister, the Honourable Kamla Persad-Bissessar, has appointed Senator the Honourable Gerald Hadeed as the country’s new Minister of Tourism.

In his new position, Hadeed will oversee the development and execution of tourism development initiatives as well as promote the depth and diversity of the dual-island’s tourism product in the international marketplace.

“We are pleased to welcome Senator Hadeed as the new Minister of Tourism,” said Yolande Selman, acting Chief Executive Officer of Trinidad and Tobago’s Tourism Development Company Limited. “He brings experience as a businessman and from within the industry, as well as new energy and ideas and will be instrumental in promoting and moving forward Trinidad and Tobago’s tourism agenda to the benefit of all stakeholders,” she added.

Hadeed succeeds former Tourism Minister Chandresh Sharma. Hadeed joins the ministry with an impressive history of high-level experience and achievements. Prior to his appointment, Senator Hadeed served as the country’s Minister of Communications. Hadeed also served as chairman of the Airports Authority of Trinidad and Tobago, CEO of Trinidad-based Beacon Insurance and has held posts on several boards in the Caribbean nation, including the National Gas Company.
