Trinidad & Tobago to challenge Jamaica in Lauderhill – MAQT20 International Night Cricket Finals

LAUDERHILL – After ten grueling weeks of highly competitive cricket competition, Cricket Council USA (CCUSA) and the City of Lauderhill congratulate the Trinidad & Tobago and Jamaica cricket teams for advancing to the finals of the 10th Annual Lauderhill-MAQT20 International Night Cricket Tournament.

On Saturday, April 9, 2011 at the Lauderhill Sports Park, the underwriters will kick off the “Cricket Night of Champions with an exhibition cricket game by the youth of the Worldwide Cricket Academy of Lauderhill at 4:30pm.

After the game, spectators can listen to the effervescent sounds of Steel Pan music by Jonathan Baboolal follow by a special guest appearance by the SunDanz Dance Company cheerleaders.

A brief opening ceremony will follow that will include the team’s National Anthem, players introduction and the official coin toss.

At 5:00pm, the seven time champions, Team Jamaica will face the explosive Trinidad & Tobago team, making it a rematch of the 2009 finals were Jamaica defeated Trinidad.

In between innings, South Florida Carnival Bandleaders will feature some of the 2011 masquerade bands in costume, with each band’s masqueraders wearing exotic and extravagant costumes. After the game, Mayor Kaplan and CCUSA CEO, Mohammed A. Qureshi will award the champion team with the Mayor’s Cup and winning purse from Cricket Council USA. In addition, Broward County Commissioner Dale V. C. Holness will present special awards to the tournament’s outstanding players.

Underwritten by the Cricket Council USA, a sports and entertainment management company and the City of Lauderhill, this year’s tournament enjoying record-breaking crowds each Saturday night at the Lauderhill Sports Park were fans have been thrilled by the high level of cricket played by the teams representing: Bangladesh, Lauderhill, Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago, Guyana, Barbados, Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, Team USA, Combined Islands and World XI.

The City and CCUSA are thrilled with the excitement and growing interest in the game of cricket generated by the Night Cricket League.
