Trini-Rhythms debuts on BET this Sunday

NEW YORK – The music and pulse of Trinidad and Tobago will hit the airwaves of top US television network BET this weekend when “Trini – Rhythms” makes its debut on the channel.

Two back-to-back half-hour editions of “Trini-Rhythms,” featuring the latest in soca music from the “Land of the Hummingbird,” will air this Sunday, May 14th, 2006 from 10:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. (ET/PT).

The music shows, featuring artistes such as Machel Montano and Destra Garcia, also highlight the latest calypso, soca, and dancehall videos.

“This weekend we will take our treasured partnership with Trinidad and Tobago to another level,” said Cybelle Brown, Vice-President of Sales and Marketing for BET Digital Networks, who said six editions of the music show have been on rotation on BET J’s popular “Island Lime” – the channel’s brand new all-Caribbean format on Saturdays. BET J can also been seen on DIRECTV,
ideally positioned in the United States next to MTV and BET, and connecting with even more households in the US. In addition to BET J, Brown said future editions of Trini-Rhythms will air on BET on Sunday, June 11th (10:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.), Sunday, July 9th (10:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.) and Sunday, August 13th (10:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.).

Dr. James Hepple, Trinidad and Tobago’s Director of Tourism said the partnership between BET Digital Networks and the Trinidad and Tobago Tourism Development Company has been great so far. “We have two types of shows – Trini-Rhythms (music-based) and T&T Today (magazine format) which are running on BET J on Saturdays, and the response has been very positive,” said Dr. Hepple, who is especially encouraged by the positive feedback from the Caribbean Diaspora in the United States.
