Tri-County Commissioners to discuss regional issues

MIAMI – County Commissioners from Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach Counties will meet on Monday, January 22, 11 a.m.-2 p.m., at the Miami Carnival Center, 1300 Biscayne Blvd., to discuss issues of mutual concern.

The meeting will open with welcoming remarks by Chairman Bruno A. Barreiro and Vice Chairman Barbara Jordan of the Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners. Broward County Mayor Josephus Eggelletion, Jr., will deliver opening remarks along with Commissioner Addie Greene, chairperson of the Palm Beach County Commission.

Commissioners from the three southeast Florida counties will review a preliminary list of tri-county legislative issues, which includes state as well as federal priorities.

Discussion items listed on a preliminary agenda include Strategic Intermodal System Funding Fair Share; Southeast Florida Transportation Council; Red Light Enforcement Cameras; Economy of Scale of Cooperative, Transit and Environmental Projects; Regional Tri-County Health Self Insurance Program; Pooling Resources to Reduce Property Insurance Premiums; Property Tax Reform (marina/working waterfront and affordable housing); Trauma Services and Reciprocity for Broward Firms as Local Vendors.

In previous years, the Commissioners reached consensus on a number of regional issues and endorsed a tri-county legislative program on state and federal issues.
