Kingston, Jamaica – International reggae group Toots & the Maytals, who won the 2005
Grammy Award for the album ‘True Love,’ will join reggae messenger Luciano, Warrior King, Ernie Ranglin, The Messenjah Band and Canadian
reggae songbird Bonnie Casey on a mini world tour that kicks off in April.
Copeland Forbes, CEO of Comar Productions said the tour will make schedule stops in Australia, New Zealand, Mexico and various parts of the USA. Rehearsals for the tour will begin In Jamaica very soon and none is as excited as Bonnie Casey, the former Miss World Canada Beauty pageant contestant who will be embarking on her very first international tour.
“I am truly excited about this musical journey that I am getting ready to embark on and invite everyone to come along for the ride. I am still relatively new in the music industry so at this point I am just eager for any opportunity to perform for my fans” she said.
Casey garnered attention in 2010 with a memorable performance at the annual Jamaica Day Celebrations in Toronto, Canada. Her short but entertaining set, stuck a response chord with fans and she has not looked back since.
Earlier this year, she signed a 5 year management contact with Forbes who disclosed in a recent interview that she has the wear it to be a
star.
“Bonnie is a rear gem in the reggae industry! Not only does she have an incredibly vocal range but she has passion, charisma, beauty and a stage presence that is magical” he said.
Forbes in not the only convert, as a number of Canadian publications including “Sway Magazine”
the premier lifestyle magazine for African and Caribbean Canadians gave her a full page spread in the magazine. The Toronto Sun newspaper,
regarded as one of the largest mainstream publications in the province, in an editorial feature this month, described her as a future star.
Planet Africa Magazine, a quarterly, urban and heritage publication covering fashion, beauty, music, sports, finance, politics, health and
wealth to people of African ancestry in North America, Europe, Africa and around the world has also expressed an interest in featuring her in
their publication.
The long road to stardom, begins for Bonnie later
this month, when she jets off to sunny Jamaica to begin rehearsals for the tour. When time permits, she will start laying tracks for her highly
anticipated debut album which drops later this year.
Saxophone player Dean Fraizer and Sly & Robbie, who have played for virtually every prominent Jamaican musical artist and who has been one of pop music’s most sought after rhythm sections will handle production duties on the
disc.
“This trip to Jamaica will mark a very important milestone in my musical career as I will be working with Grammy winning producers Sly &
Robbie, who have produced icons such as Grace Jones, Joe Crocker, No Doubt, Gwen Guthrie, Carlos Santana, Sinead O’Connor, Matisyau, Simply
Red, Shabba, Shaggy and the list goes on and on. I am also excited to work with Dean Frazier, another musical legend who has crafted the
careers of Tarus Riley, Dwayne Stephenson and Luciano. I consider myself fortunate to be given this rear opportunity to work with these legends
and intend to seize the opportunity to make a serious impact in the reggae genre” she noted.
