The Miss Jamaica Florida Pageant is now accepting applications

FT. LAUDERDALE – It is that time of year again when the Partners for Youth Foundation starts accepting applications for the Miss Jamaica Florida 2007 Pageant. Interested applicants must be Jamaican born or of Jamaican parentage.

In its 18th year, the pageant is an annual fundraiser event for the Partners of Youth Foundation. Young ladies will vie for the titles of Little Miss (Ages 5-8), Junior Miss (Ages 9-12), Miss Teen (Ages 13-16) and Miss (Ages 17-21). This year’s event will be held on June 24 at the Coral Springs Center for the Arts. Each year, the pageant is centered around a theme; one that enlightens the contestants’ awareness of their cultural origins, and one that also provides an entertaining format for the audience. This year’s theme is “World Class Women, Generation of Achievers”.

The Partners for Youth Foundation is a not-for profit organization committed to enhancing the lives of young people worldwide. Seven years ago the “Anthony Baker Scholarship Fund” was established and since its inception, the Foundation has given over $14,000 funding to female college students majoring in theatre or music.

“Our mission is to continue making an impact by contributing to the personal and positive development of our young women” stated Marcia Rigg-Baker, President and organizer of this event.
