The 2011 Jamaican Diaspora Conference set for Ocho Rios, Jamaica – June 15-17, 2011

MIAMI – The Government of Jamaica through the designated Ministry, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade and its Overseas Missions cordially invites your attendance at the biennial Jamaica Diaspora Conference to be held in Ocho Rios, Jamaica from June 15 to 17, 2011.

All nationals of Jamaica resident in communities overseas are welcome, especially the interest of Jamaican Diaspora members who have not previously participated.

Conference information will be updated and disseminated as planning develops through community forums, e-mail blasts and media announcements but please note the following important information:

The first day of the Conference will focus on registration of participants, as well as a sponsors’ exhibition, a Future Leaders Caucus and a Diaspora Advisory Board meeting.

The official opening ceremony is scheduled for the morning of 16th June. This will be followed by the regular conference activities, which will continue through to 17th June.

A noticeable change in the format of the various activities during the Convention is the consecutive scheduling of the plenary sessions so that all delegates will be able to participate in the discussions. A draft program is being developed in consultation with Diaspora groups/members.
