TDC designated country representative for FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Trinidad and Tobago

Port-of-Spain, Trinidad – The Tourism Development Company (TDC) is pleased to announce its designation as country representative for the upcoming FIFA Under 17 Women’s World Cup which will be hosted in Trinidad and Tobago from September 5 to 25.

As country representative, the TDC will partner with the tournament’s Local Organising Committee (LOC) to showcase Trinidad and Tobago’s culture, attractions and people to the world.

In addition to providing cultural displays of pannists to greet arriving teams at the Piarco International Airport and host hotels, the TDC will work with the LOC to promote Trinidad and Tobago’s sites and attractions during the tournament utilising a variety of initiatives, including tours for FIFA officials and referees.

The Trinidad and Tobago Convention Bureau, a department within the TDC, also partnered with the LOC to showcase Trinidad and Tobago at the draw for positions which took place on May 5, at the Hyatt Regency.

Sixteen teams, comprising of representatives from FIFA’s six confederations – Asia, Africa, CONCACAF, South America, Oceania and Europe – and Trinidad and Tobago’s Soca Princesses, will compete in the tournament.

Matches will be held at five stadia including the Hasley Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain and the Dwight Yorke Stadium, Tobago.

The 16 competing teams are Brazil, Canada, Chile, Germany, Ghana, Japan, Korea Republic, Korea DPR, New Zealand, Nigeria, Mexico, Spain, South Africa, Venezuela, Republic of Ireland and host nation Trinidad and Tobago.
