T.J. Reddick Bar Association to Host 20th Annual Awards & Scholarship Banquet

FORT LAUDERDALE – The T.J. Reddick Bar Association will be hosting its 20th Annual Awards & Scholarship Banquet under the theme: “United We Stand: Building on a Legacy of Service.” This elegant event is scheduled for Saturday, March 26, 2011 at the prestigious Design Center of the Americas (DCOTA), 1855 Griffin Road, Dania Beach, FL 33004.

According to President Ghenete Wright Muir, “The event is not only to celebrate the achievements of the T.J. Reddick Bar Association, but presents an opportunity to recognize members of the community who have worked tirelessly to improve the lives of others through community service and legal service, and to present scholarships to deserving law students.”

This year, the T.J. Reddick Bar Association will be presenting Community Service Awards to Broward County Commissioner Dale V. C. Holness, Coast to Coast Legal Aid of South Florida, Inc., Dennis Wright, President of 100 Black Men of Greater Fort Lauderdale; Legal Aid Service of Broward County, Inc. and Urban League of Broward County, Inc. These individuals and organizations have worked assiduously, at times under dire situations, to ensure that the people of their communities have the necessary assistance and tools to improve their lives.

Roshawn Banks, Esq. and Barry Butin, Esq. are this year’s recipients of T.J. Reddick’s Pro Bono Service Award. Both attorneys have put in their time and legal expertise to ensure that low income individuals receive the best possible representation.

The Achievement Award will go to Burnadette Norris-Weeks, Esq., for her accomplishments in her 20 years of practice in civil and governmental law.

The T.J. Reddick Bar Association is a organization of attorneys dedicated to promoting the professional excellence of Black lawyers in Broward County, providing community service, creating a greater awareness and commitment to the civil and political rights of the local Black community and promoting the general welfare of all citizens in Broward County.
