Strikers Defeat Trinidad & Tobago Olympic Team in Preseason
FORT LAUDERDALE – The Fort Lauderdale Strikers and forward Andy Herron continued their fine form as they defeated the Trinidad & Tobago Olympic team 2-1 with Herron scoring both goals. The Strikers are unbeaten in the preseason (3-0-1).
Herron opened the scoring in the first half when he was taken down in the penalty box by the Trinidad & Tobago goalkeeper. Herron stepped up to take the penalty kick and slotted his shot to the keeper’s left to make the score 1-0.
Shortly after halftime Trinidad & Tobago earned a free kick and placed a ball into the area which was headed home to tie the score at 1-1 in the 51st minute.
The tie persisted until the 88th minute when forward Aly Hassan collected a pass and found a cutting Andy Herron who finished for his second goal and the eventual game-winner.
The Strikers continue their preseason schedule this Sunday, Mar. 18th, when they play a friendly match against the Canadian Olympic team at the Holiday Inn & Suites in Sunrise at 3:00p.m. The game is free and open to the public.
